GREAT-GRANDDAUGHTER OF FORMER RECTOR BAPTIZED AT ALL SAINTS' EPISCOPAL Raina Jean Smith received the sacrament of Holy Baptism on Sunday, May 13th at the 10 o'clock service at All Saints' Episcopal Church, Attleboro. Raina, almost eight months old, is the daughter of Erik and Shanna Smith of Norton. Shanna's mother, Wendy Airey Taylor is a daughter of the late Rev. T. Frederick Airey, who served for fifteen years as the rector of All Saints' Parish. It seemed a fitting and symbolic event that the first baptism in the "new All Saints' Episcopal Church" is the descendant of a previous and much-loved rector. In January, 2007 the rector and many of the then congregation left The Episcopal Church to affiliate with The African Mission in America. The remaining Episcopal members, plus others, began a renewed venture at All Saints' Episcopal with the support of the Diocese of Massachusetts and The Rev. William Underhill as Interim Priest in Charge. The Rev. Mr. Underhill served in neighboring Trinity Church in Wrentham at the time Rev. Airey (Father Fred) was rector in Attleboro. As Co-Warden Ray Brousseau observed at last Sunday's service, "God is truly alive and present here at All Saints'." BISHOP MAKES VISITATION TO CELEBRATE ALL SAINTS' NEW CONFIRMANDS Six young people and one adult from All Saints' Episcopal Church, Attleboro were presented for Confirmation on Saturday, May 5 at an area service for the Taunton River Deanery of the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts held at Grace Episcopal Church, North Attleboro. The Right Reverend Roy Cederholm, Bishop Suffragan of the Diocese, was the confirming bishop as well as preacher and celebrant. The Attleboro members that were confirmed are Crystal Adams, William Bowles, Andrew Chretien, Joshua Chretien, Kaylee Henriques, Kevin Lingard, and Rebecca Romaniuk. Candidates were accompanied by several sponsors and were presented by the Rev. William Underhill, Interim Priest in Charge at All Saints' Episcopal. Two other deanery parishes from the area also participated and presented their candidates: Trinity Church, Bridgewater and Grace Church, North Attleboro. The service was followed by a reception for the confirmands. March, 2007
All Saints' Attends Diocesan Convention! Diocesan Convention gave a round of applause for representatives and delegates from All Saints’ Church in Attleboro who were attending their first Diocesan Convention ever or in many years. The convention took place March 10 at Boston University and drew more than 600 parish delegates, clergy members and other guests representing diocesan congregations. The day’s program focused on characteristics of vitality (a congregation’s lively response to God’s mission) and viability (the stability and strength of a congregation’s finances, property and administrative functions), and there was initial discussion of a diocesan covenant focusing on mutual interdependence and accountability.
